Django & Warrior Minded Presents:
Inter-Tribal Beats & Unleash Your Inner-Warrior
1. "Inter-Tribal Beats" was a series of workshops facilitated by Django, held at the Inter-Tribal Youth Center of Montreal (located in NFCM Building 2001 rue St. Laurent and Ontario). The workshops were geared at getting youth involved in producing Hip Hop beats. A project will be in the works to get a full-length album released.
2. "Unleash Your Inner-Warrior" was a sound-art project presented by Joey Shaw aka Warrior Minded in Toronto at the 12th Annual imagineNATIVE Film & Media Arts Festival 2011. The project was aimed at getting an in-depth look at some of Montreal's Hip Hop scene. Artists were interviewed to share some of their thoughts and opinions on Hip Hop Culture. Another part of this project, was to get a brief perspective of street-life or to have some sort of struggling theme. An elder from Guatemala was interviewed during a healing session, sharing some of his knowledge and insight on Warrior Philosophy. Interviews include the following: Butta Beats and Nantali (of Nomadic Massive), Mickey Boston, Regimental Oneton, Monk-E and Urbn Logix, DJ Andy Williams, Cleis Neveau and Elder Marco.
3. The Open Mic List will open up after both presentations. All are welcome to step up to the stage, pick up the microphone and share something (Whether you sing, rap, perform poetry, play an instrument etc.) Artists of all disciplines are welcome to join.
4. We will also reserve some time for a Music Jam. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instrument.
5. And finally, the night will end off with a Live on-stage Cypher. So there will be a Call-Out for Emcees to take part.
