Application Reminder: Hi-Rez Storytelling

Indigenous Storytellers Invited to Apply

Hi-Rez Storytelling is a program designed to support emerging to mid-career Aboriginal filmmakers and new media screen-based writers and producers. During the course of this unique two-week residency at The Banff Centre, participants will develop a project they bring with them to the program, write for multi-platform environments, and learn digital strategies that provide a continuum for contemporary storytelling forms.

Hi-Rez Storytelling will provide one-on-one mentorship and guidance with outstanding faculty and guest speakers. At the end of residency, participants will leave with a developed story, plans for production, and fundraising and/or pitching plans. Participants may be storytellers of any genre who want to explore how to tell and visualize their story, and who wish to explore an Indigenous esthetic in storytelling and interactivity.

Self-directed Residencies for Aboriginal Artists Achieve your artistic vision. The Banff Centre offers self-directed residencies for Aboriginal artists, enabling the time and space for focused work and providing the freedom to conceptualize, create, research, or complete a project. Aboriginal Arts self-directed residencies are open to writers, composers, singer-songwriters, dancers, choreographers, screenwriters, and playwrights. SAR Native Artist Fellowships deadline - January 15, 2012

School of Advanced Research Native Artist Fellowships

The Indian Arts Research Center (IARC) at the School for Advanced Research (SAR) offers four artist-in-residence fellowships annually to advance the work of mature and emerging Native artists. Each fellowship includes a monthly stipend, housing, studio space, a supplies allowance, and travel reimbursement to and from SAR. These fellowships provide time for artists to explore new avenues of creativity, grapple with new ideas to further advance their work, and to strengthen existing talents.

The fellowships support diverse creative disciplines and can include sculpture, performance, basketry, painting, printmaking, digital art, mixed media, photography, pottery, writing, and film and video. However each fellowship has specific applicant criteria as indicated below.

*The IARC fellowships are funded through the generosity of Ronald and Susan Dubin, Rollin and Mary Ella King, the Lannan Foundation, and Eric and Barbara Dobkin.

• Ron and Susan Dubin Native Artist Fellowship (Jun. 15–Aug. 15)
  The Dubin Fellowship is dedicated to supporting traditional Native artistry.
• Rollin and Mary Ella King Native Artist Fellowship (Sept. 1–Dec. 1)
  The King Fellowship is dedicated to preserving the Southwest’s extensive artistic heritage. Applicants to this fellowship must be from a Native community in the Southwestern United States (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah) and work in the visual arts.
• SAR Indigenous Writer-in-Residence Fellowship (Jan. 3–Feb. 21)
  This residency is designed to support the literary arts. Writers in any format are encouraged to apply to this fellowship, which is generously supported by the Lannan Foundation.
• Eric and Barbara Dobkin Native Artist Fellowship for Women (Mar. 1–May 31)
  The Dobkin Fellowship encourages the creativity and growth of indigenous women artists working in any media.

The deadline for applying to all artist fellowships is January 15 of each year. Applications must be postmarked by this date.

This application is for the Ronald and Susan Dubin Native Artist Fellowship, Rollin and Mary Ella King Native Artist Fellowship, SAR Indigenous Writer-in-Residence Fellowship, and Eric and Barbara Dobkin Native Artist Fellowship for Native Women.
We are no longer taking applications for the Sallie R. Wagner Indigenous American Artists/Scholar Fellowship.
