Ce prix est remis chaque année au meilleur récit* original et inédit soumis à la compétition. La compétition est ouverte à tous les Canadiens. Les textes sont jugés à l’aveugle.

Un récit (histoire vécue) est un texte dans lequel l'expérience vécue prend le premier plan - voyage, aventure, épisode biographique ou autobiographique. L'œuvre doit être accessible à tous les lecteurs, c'est-à-dire qu'elle n'est pas destinée à un public spécialisé ni à des universitaires.

Un jury composé de trois personnalités littéraires désigne le premier prix et quatre mentions spéciales du jury.

Premier prix : 6000 $ offerts par le Conseil des Arts du Canada, publication dans le magazine enRoute d’Air Canada et sur le site de la Zone d’écriture. Quatre mentions spéciales du jury : 1000 $ offerts par le Conseil des Arts du Canada et publication sur le site de la Zone d’écriture.

Des frais d'inscription de 25 $ (taxes incluses) sont exigés à des fins administratives pour chaque texte soumis.

Deadline to submit: February 1, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. ET
This prize is awarded once a year to the best original, unpublished, work of Creative Nonfiction that is submitted to the competition. All Canadians can participate.

The competition is blind. A jury composed of well-known and respected Canadian authors will select a 1st place winner and 4 runners-up.

The First Prize winner will receive $6,000, courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts, and will have his/her story published in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine and on the Canada Writes website. He or she will also be interviewed on CBC Radio’s The Next Chapter with Shelagh Rogers.

The 4 runners-up will each receive $1,000, courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts, and their stories will be published on the Canada Writes website.

Submissions to the Creative Nonfiction prize must be between 1,200 and 1,500 words.

A fee of $25.00 (taxes included) for administration purposes is required for each entry.

RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

A prize of $5,000 will be awarded to the best work of short fiction.
Two honourable mentions will each receive $1,000 prizes.

Applicants should submit 5 - 10 pages (up to 2,500 words) of previously unpublished fiction.

Submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter with the candidate’s name, address, email, telephone number, and details confirming their
eligibility, including age and previous publishing credit(s).

Manuscript pages should not include identifying information, and should be unstapled and consecutively numbered. Entries will not be returned.

By submitting to this award, candidates grant the Writers’ Trust of Canada permission to publish their work in print and digital formats. All rights reserved by the authors.

To be eligible candidates must be:
* A Canadian citizen or permanent resident
* Under the age of 35 as of the deadline date
* Unpublished in book form and without a book contract
* Previously published in an independently edited magazine or anthology

SSMU Equity Committee Call for papers - January 20, 2012

The SSMU Equity Committee is currently accepting submissions for its 2nd Annual Equity Conference happening on February 4, 2012. The conference is an opportunity for McGill students of all disciplines to share their research and knowledge of equity issues in a student-le...d environment.

Papers and art (visual, film, photography, performance, spoken word, etc.) are invited on any aspect of "Equity and Violence," such as direct, interpersonal, institutional, structural, and/or symbolic violence.
